On Saturday, 4th April 2026, the ancient community of Ekan-Maje in Oke-Ero Local Government Area, Kwara State, was aglow with colour, culture and celebration as sons and daughters gathered for Ekan Day ..a grand convergence featuring fundraising for community projects and the conferment of chieftaincy titles on distinguished individuals.
The event, held to full capacity, attracted an array of dignitaries and eminent personalities, including the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi (represented by his deputy), His Royal Majesty Engr. Samuel O. Dada (JP), the Alofa of Ilofa, Oba Adekunle Adebayo Adeagbo, the Oore of Otun Ekiti, Oba Adekunle David Olaniyan Elekan of Ekan land and several other traditional rulers and stakeholders from across the state.
Speaking to the press, Chief Oluomo Bashorun Kayode Emmanuel and his wife, Yeye Oluomo, expressed deep gratitude for the honour and fellowship extended to them by the community. Visibly moved, he thanked Almighty God for the privilege of witnessing the historic occasion and described the recognition as a humbling and joyful milestone.
The newly installed Oluomo and Yeye Oluomo of Ekan land appreciated all guests, friends and well-wishers who travelled from far and near to celebrate with them on the occasion of their coronation and confirmation.
Describing the honour as the dawn of greater responsibilities, Chief Oluomo Bashorun Kayode Bankole Emmanuel reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of Ekan-Maje, pledging to continue supporting community growth in his capacity as Chief Oluomo. In demonstration of this, he donated millions of naira towards the community development fund.
He specially thanked His Royal Majesty, Oba Adekunle David Olaniyan, the Elekan of Ekan land*, for the recognition, and commended the council of chiefs and the entire community for the trust reposed in him.
Seizing the moment, Chief Oluomo Bashorun Kayode Emmanuel also announced his intention to contest for the House of Representatives, with a promise to offer effective representation for his constituency in Abuja.
