‘PENALTY IS ANYBODY’S GAME’ — KWARA NLO CHAIRMAN YUSSUF SALUTES LA-PLANET, CONSOLES ABRAYSPORTS IN CLASSY FINAL BOW

Kwara State Nationwide League One Chairman, Mallam Abdullahi Adekunle Yusuf, has congratulated LA-Planet Football Academy on emerging overall champions of the Ilorin Centre for the 2026 NLO season.
Mallam Yusuf, who doubles as Chairman of Abraysports Football Club and NLO Chairman in Kwara, sent his congratulatory message to LA-Planet after they edged Abraysports 2-2 [4-3 penalties] following a dramatic comeback by his team to level the game in regulation time.
“I salute the courage of both teams. It was a tense match from both sides and I believe the fans truly enjoyed the memorable moments created by both teams,” Yusuf said.
Speaking in his dual capacity, the Abraysports chairman described his side’s defeat as “hard luck” while maintaining his official stance as NLO boss. “As Abraysports chairman, I will tag it hard luck because penalty is anybody’s game. But as Kwara State NLO Chairman, I congratulate LA-Planet Football Academy and wish them good luck as they represent the state to bring home the NNL slot.”
Yusuf also applauded all match officials and team managements for their excellence from the kickoff of the league to today’s final. “They were fantastic and deserve applause. I assure everyone that we will continue with this unity in developing grassroots football in Kwara State.”
To his Abraysports players, he added: “You have done well. But in football, anything can happen. I thank everyone who has supported grassroots football development in Kwara State.”
