The maiden Future Field Team Governor’s Cup and First Lady’s Tournament roared to life in Ilorin with a colourful opening ceremony, as over 300 athletes from across Kwara’s 16 LGAs converged for the grassroots sports fiesta.
The flag-off ceremony set the stage for intense competition aimed at sports and talent discovery in the state, with dignitaries, coaches, and excited fans in attendance.
Action immediately followed on the pitch and court as Day 1 delivered drama, goals, and straight-set victories.
FOOTBALL KNOCKOUT RESULTS
1.Ilorin South 2-0 Moro.
Ilorin South started strong with a convincing 2-0 win to progress.
2.Irepodun 0-0 Oyun [8-7 on penalties]. After a goalless draw in regulation time, Irepodun edged a nerve-wracking 8-7 penalty shootout.
3.Ilorin West 1-0 Ifelodun.
A lone goal was enough for Ilorin West to secure victory over Ifelodun.
