Future Field Team and Kwara Sports Commission Partner to Boost Grassroots Sports Development
Kwara State is set to take center stage as it hosts the maiden inter-secondary schools U-15 Football/Volleyball Championship from Monday, July 27 to Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The Championship is being organized by Future Field Team in collaboration with the Kwara State Sports Commission. It is sponsored by the Kwara State Government and is designed to promote grassroots sports development, talent discovery, and youth engagement across the state.
The tournament will feature two categories:
Football for boys
Volleyball for girls
The Opening Ceremony will hold on Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Centenary College, Ilorin, at 10:00 a.m.
The Dinner and Prize Award Night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Banquet Hall, opposite Government House, Ilorin, at 5:00 p.m.
Speaking ahead of the competition, the President of Future Field Team, Mr. Peter Johnson, expressed appreciation to the Kwara State Government, through His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, and Her Excellency, Ambassador Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, for their sustained commitment to youth and sports development in the state.
He described the championship as a strategic platform for schoolboys and schoolgirls to discover their talents, build confidence, and secure a brighter future through the developmental template provided by Future Field Team and the Kwara State Sports Commission.
Mr. Johnson also commended the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Magaji*, and other members of staff for their dedication and support in ensuring the success of the competition.
He further urged participating schools and their games masters to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of their respective Local Governments and to uphold the values of discipline, sportsmanship, and excellence throughout the championship.
With Ilorin set to host the event, stakeholders are optimistic that the U-15 championship will revive the culture of school sports and lay a solid foundation for the next generation of athletes in Kwara State.
