The Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Mr Kumbi Titiloye, has assured football stakeholders in Kwara State that the club will unveil 10 new players this week as part of efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Titiloye gave the assurance while responding to questions from journalists after featuring for the All Stars team in a novelty match organised to celebrate the ACC 50-50 Birthday celebration.
According to the Kwara United Chairman, the recruitment of the new players is aimed at building a more competitive side capable of improving on last season's performance.
"We are bringing in 10 new players, and they will be unveiled this week. The objective is to strengthen the team and ensure we have a squad capable of competing favourably in the new season," he said.
He expressed confidence in the quality of the incoming players, describing them as worthy replacements for those who have left the club.
"Those players are good enough to replace the departed ones. Their sharpness, quality and urgency on the ball make them capable replacements, and we are confident they will add value to the team," Titiloye added.
The NPFL Board member expressed optimism that the forthcoming campaign would be better than the previous one, attributing the club's recent stability to the consistent support of Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, through the Kwara State Sports Commission.
He noted that without the Governor's unwavering support, the club's fortunes could have been different.
Titiloye urged supporters and other stakeholders to expect a compact and competitive team capable of replicating the achievements recorded four seasons ago when Kwara United consistently finished among the top five clubs in the league.
Speaking on the National Sports Commission's proposed ₦2 million minimum salary policy for NPFL players, Titiloye declined to comment, saying the matter would be discussed by club owners at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) before an official position is adopted.
On security arrangements ahead of the new season, the Oro-born football administrator assured fans that the management of Kwara United and the Kwara State Football Association would work closely with relevant security agencies to guarantee the safety of lives and property at the stadium throughout the campaign.
