Kwara: Stakeholders Hail Kwara United Book Launch as Milestone for Sports Documentation
Sports stakeholders in Kwara State have applauded the official launch of the Kwara United Football Club book, describing it as a landmark achievement in the documentation of the club’s history and legacy.

The event, held on Thursday, 27th August 2026, at the Kwara State Sports Commission Conference Room in Ilorin, drew a large turnout of sports administrators, journalists, coaches, former football officials, and lovers of the game.

Lead author and team coordinator, Bayour Issah, said the project marked a historic moment for Kwara State as it represents the first formal documentation of Kwara United FC since the club’s establishment.

He noted that he and his team were overwhelmed by the support received from individuals and organizations throughout the process.

Issah expressed appreciation to all contributors for their financial support, research materials, advice, and time.
He also acknowledged those who could not attend in person but identified with the project.

He called on companies, clubs, libraries, and individuals interested in Kwara football history to obtain copies of the book, which he said provides first-hand information about Kwara United from inception.

The Dean of the Sports Faculty, popularly known as "Mr. Sports", Bayour Issah, Jimoh Bashir, a veteran sports journalist and former Chairman of SWAN Kwara Chapter, and Mr. Gbenga Francis Akande commended stakeholders for the impressive turnout.

The team described the publication as educative and long overdue, saying it would serve as a valuable resource for researchers and future generations.

Mr. Gbenga Francis, a former Kwara United staff member, appreciated the Kwara sports community for rallying behind the project, stressing that proper documentation is critical to preserving institutional memory and promoting sports development in the state.

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Magaji, who hosted the event, was praised for his leadership in ensuring the success of the launch.
Appreciation was also extended to the Kwara United management, Supporter and Fans Club

The book was reviewed by Dr. Ibrahim Salau, an Associate Professor, seasoned sports lover, and academic per excellence.

The event recorded the attendance of sports directors, sports personalities, past football administrators, coaches, journalists, ex-footballers, staff of the Sports Commission, and individuals who were impressed with the book launch.

Veteran journalist Jimoh Bashir described the launch as more than a ceremonial event, noting that it sets a new standard for record-keeping and heritage preservation in Kwara sports
